Unlike some other sports, USA hockey demands a lot out of their coaches, and that is a good thing for our kids. There are several requirements that each of us as coaches will have to take care of in order to be able to coach.
USA HOCKEY REGISTRATION:
First off, every year, similar to what we have to do for our children, we must register with USA hockey. Once registered please forward me the confirmation. Here is link needed:
Also, every season, our coaches are required to fill out a CORI form. I’ve attached the CORI form to this email. Please print, fill out and return to me. I will pass them on to the NCMYH board member responsible for running the CORI checks.
Those of you have coached with us the last two season should have completed the online Safesport training. This is only good for two seasons, for instance I just had to recertify since I did it two seasons ago. If you did it last year you are set for this season. If you have never done it or you did it in a season other than last season it needs to be completed. Refresher course for expired ones, full Safesport course for those who have never done it. This Safesport training should be done before stepping on the ice for the first practice of season.
CEP (Coaching Education Program) level courses:
Mite coaches can coach with and expired CEP level, but they must have one.

Age Group Modules:
Depending on the age group you are coaching, you will need to have that age group module completed: Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee, Bantam, Midget. These are independent of each other, for instance if you have already done the Bantam one and are coaching squirts, but haven’t done the Squirt one, you still need to do it.
